Timber Management Program is responsible for the preparation and administration of timber sales. This Program function includes written environmental assessments for timber sales, with input from other natural resource agencies to manage the forest ecosystem using best management practices.
Geographic Information System: is a computer information system that uses spatial map data combined with pertinent forest data collected during forest inventory. The data is stored within the Department’s computer system. The data is used to analyze forest management activities for the commercial forest and woodland areas on the Navajo Nation.
Forest Marketing – Lumber Sales: The Program also operates a small portable sawmill, producing rough cut lumber, for sale to the public. Lumber sizes and prices are available upon request.
